Discusses how to successfully introduce a wiki into your organization's culture. The focus is on communities of people in a single company or school, not random people assembled over the Internet to work on something. The author is maintainer of a wiki on common usage patterns and anti-patterns in wikis, such as holding a BarnRaising to create an initial body of content. Discussion of how to introduce a wiki is interspersed with case studies of organizations that have successfully adopted them; these case studies aren't especially helpful and only mildly informative. The patterns are more interesting, a guide to the problems and growing pains that communities face, and I wish more space had been spent on them.
