Lesson: 09/01

This week's pieces are:
  • Etude #53 from the Schroeder "170 Foundation Studies" book, which is all arpeggiated triplets and is a good exercise in shifting around.
  • My new piece is Brahm's Lullaby, the prototypical lullaby ("go to sleep / go to sleep now...").

Jeff picked up a new book for me, "Solos for the Cello Player", ed. Otto Deri. He wants me to play "The Swan" by Saint-Saëns eventually; it's piece #11 in the book, but we'll be going through the book in order so I'll get to "The Swan" by early next year. The Brahms is the first piece in the book.

I'm done with the Popper piece, which was sounding very good (for me, anyway -- still not publicly playable).

(So much for being more consistent in writing weblog entries; I could think of nothing to say about last week's lesson.)
