My green card renewal arrives

For just under three years, I've been on a temporary green card because our marriage was only a few years old when the green card was first granted. The duration was two years, and I filed a successful request to extend it by a year, running out in January 2009.

In the past few weeks I was beginning to nervously wonder if I should file another renewal -- and pay the few hundred dollars of required fees. But today an envelope arrived from US Homeland Security, informing me that the renewal was granted and I should receive a new card within 60 days. The new card will last ten years, so it'll be a while before I need to put it for a renewal. (Guess I need to put an item on my calendar for 2017.)
